The Early Days
Daniel Heinchon (Chris’s grandfather) began a milk delivery business in 1923 in Pawling. It was a door to door delivery business by horse and eventually an old lorry.
1940s
1940
Heinchon Dairy
At one time, Heinchon Dairy was the ONLY door to door milk delivery business in all of Dutchess County. Supermarkets rarely gave shelf space to small suppliers, so the dairy shifted its business to wholes ale.
1980s

Heinchon’s Old Farmhouse Ice Cream Parlor
Opening of Heinchon’s Old Farmhouse Ice Cream Parlor and transition to growing exclusively equine forage.
2000s

Eastern Hay
Although Chris had been making hay for several decades at this point, Eastern Hay Corp. is officially incorporated and operates to this day on the Heinchon Dairy property that Chris Johnson’s grandfather built in 1923.
